Project Overview

Inkindo's Material Directory (DMI) is a platform catalog that contains all products from suppliers who work with Inkindo (Indonesian National Association of Consultants) throughout Indonesia. The initial development of the DMI project was to complete the Inkindo website which lists the member companies that are members of Inkindo, where on this website you cannot see a list of the products offered by each company.

My Role

- Conducting user research such as competitive analysis and usability testing

- Analyzing and defining the general issues within the app

- Designing the solution and prototyping the design

Problem Statement

Based on many considerations and the results of company discussions, it is necessary to have a material catalog from Inkindo member companies. Because meeting the needs of Inkindo member companies sometimes requires material research. They need a trusted material catalog site. Material research is very important for the company because in the completion stage of a development project, quality materials are needed from trusted suppliers so that the results are maximized.

Possible Solution

Making a website and mobile app-based material catalog platform or site with a compare feature for several materials. This feature allows INKINDO member companies to conduct material research, so they can complete their construction projects properly. These companies can conduct material research and select the highest quality materials from trusted suppliers.

Define Phase

User Persona

To continue the existing research process, I identify user needs and goals in user personas. This data will be used in a brainstorming process to define and improve the user experience.

User Journey Map

I made a visual representation of the user's journey across all touchpoints of application to understand where I can improve the user experience.

Ideate Phase

User Flow

I created a flow to ilustrate how the user will navigate through the application.

Task Flow : Login/Register

Task Flow : Find Product

Task Flow : Save Product

Task Flow : Download Product Specification

Task Flow : Add Review

Design Phase

Wireframe

Once the user flow was established, i started to sketching wireframe.

Onboarding

Login and sign up screens have a slightly similar user interface.

Homepage

homepage (1).png

We try to keep things clean and easy to use. So users can more easily search for features and product catalogs from each supplier. For display when the user wants to find a product or supplier a suggestion will be given from each product category.

Search and Detail Product

search + detail product (1).png

- User search bar to find the product that you need, then you can find the product by category.

- The filter feature will make it easy for you to find product specifications.

- To find out more about the product, you can directly contact the supplier.

Supplier

The supplier page inform you about all products offered by the supplier, profile, contact and company certification.

Test Phase

Analysis of the results of testing based on task scenario:

1. In the login task, product search, product saving, view supplier details, password reset, and logout there are no significant difficulties and the interface is good enough. However, the user does not immediately complete the task because he wants to explore the entire application.

2. In the compare product flow, users find it difficult because it is too difficult to understand.

3. The article details located at the bottom of the homepage are not noticed by the user so they find it quite difficult to complete the task.

4. In the edit profile task the user feels that the click area is too narrow.

Test Findings

- No logout confirmation
- The language used is still inconsistent
- The logo on the splash screen is not visible, because it is the same color as the background
- The icon save material is too small

What are the next steps

After the testing phase has been carried out and received feedback from the user, then the planning stage for improvement design will be carried out in order to improve the user experience.
